As you may have noticed, we have a calendar of events that is packed with everything from track days, dyno events, to car shows. You can get all of these events synced to your mobile device easily with just a few simple steps.

First off, through your browser add Racing Southwest’s Calendar to your Google Calendars list.

Calendar name: racingsouthwest@gmail.com

We’ve put together a few write ups to help you get these events sent straight to the calendars on your smart phones. If you have a BlackBerry, if you have an iPhone, or if you have a Palm device.
If you have a BlackBerry

First, you’ll need to download and install Google Sync, complete the following steps:

Point your BlackBerry browser to: http://m.google.com/sync Once the page opens, you’ll see a Download Google Sync link.

Click the jog wheel or BlackBerry menu button to open the menu, and select Get link, which will take you to the download page.

Click Download.

Installation will happen automatically upon the completion of the download. After installation, you can find the Google Sync icon on your home screen. To start using Sync:

Click the icon (you’ll see a screen with a login form).

Move the cursor to the login section, and type the full email address of your Google Account and your password.

Press Login and Google Sync will sign in to your account. Once you’re successfully signed in, please read the information on the Welcome screen carefully. If you wish, you can make changes to the default settings by clicking on the scroll wheel and selecting Options from the menu. Both Calendar and Contacts syncing are enabled by default for new users. (If you’re upgrading from previous Calendar-only versions of Google Sync, you’ll need to enable Contacts sync.)

Click the Sync Now button at the bottom of the Welcome screen.Sync Now button at the bottom of the Welcome screen.

Once you do this, both your Google Contacts and Google Calendars will begin to sync to your phone.

If you have an iPhone

One of the easiest and free ways that we have found to sync calendar entries back and forth between your iPhone and Google Calendar is using the free program NuevaSync.

First off you’ll need to create a NueveSync account. You can do that at this page.

Visit the configuration page. Here there will be four options, Calendar, Contacts, E-mail, Tasks. Make sure Calendar is selected.

Click change to the right of Calendar. On the next page, click the Google button then click the Change button. When asked for your Google ID, enter your GMail address and then click Request Account Access. If you’re not logged in to your Google Account, you’ll be prompted to login before you can continue.

Next is the Google Access Request page. Click Grant Access.

Now on your iPhone, Open up Settings, then go through to the Mail, Contacts, Calendars page. Select Add Account and then tap Microsoft Exchange.

For your e-mail address, enter the e-mail address that you used to register with NueveSync. Then enter your NuevaSync login name and password and then a name for your calendar. After you are finished, tap Next. You may be asked to verify Exchange Account Information after you do this.

When asked for Server enter www.nuevasync.com and then tap Next. On the next page, turn off Mail and Contacts, then tap Save.

On the Mail, Contacts, Calendars settings page, scroll to the bottom and then tap Time Zone Support. Then switch Time Zone Support to Off and exit.

We’re all done! You’ll want to test and make sure that everything works — make sure your WiFi or 3G connection is enabled and then open the Calendar App on your iPhone or touch. It should auto-update and, if you’ve got stuff in your Google Calendar, you should see it here. Try adding something to your Calendar and then go check if it appears on your computer’s Google Calendar (and vice-versa too, so add something to your Google Calendar and then go open the Calendar app to see if it appears there).

Viola, RSW’s Calendar on your iPhone!

If you have a Palm Device

The easiest way I’ve found to sync a Google Calendar with your Palm phone (Treo, Centro, etc) is using GooSync. Using GooSync you are able to set up your Palm device to automatically find your calendar on Google and update at timed intervals.

Goto http://www.goosync.com, Register an account and validate it.

Select your device (PALM), there will only be 1 option for all Palm devices.

Download the GooSync .PRC file for your palm and Configure Your Device.

Goto the GooSync program in your Palm device and click the start icon. Your calendars will not sync between your Palm device and your Google Calendar.

You’re all done, you now have sync’d both your Google Calendar and your Palm calendar from your Palm phone.
