The 2nd Annual SWMS Monster Mash
We stopped in at the Southwest Motorsports(SWMS) event to see a few cars on the road course this weekend (October 29th-31st) at the Sandia Motor Speedway in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  The event was very successful and even the RSW member Carlos M. took home a first place trophy on his shifter kart. The SWMS organization is primarily vintage, but as you can see in the photos they have a wide range of vehicles that show up.

Sandia BMW – Unveiling of the 2010 BMW S1000RR 0

Sandia BMW in Albuquerque, New Mexico sponsored one of the final SMRI weekends for 2009.  The sold out event brought a BMW factory rider to unveil the new BMW S1000RR at Sandia Motorsports Park. The event had 75 participants ranging from first time riders to a very large expert group.

SMRI Motorcycle Racing at Sandia Motorsports Park – July 19, 2009 0

A blistering hot summer day didn’t stop a great turn out at Sandia Motorsports Park this weekend.  Sandia Motorcycle Roadracing Inc. (SMRI) had two day weekend on the road course.  Even with temperatures nearing 100 degrees we saw a few riders go back to back in sessions without rest. Race Season is Upon Us, Are You Prepared? 0

It’s time to start racing!  It may be your first time out this season or your first time out ever, but race preparation is key in making your first race day go as planned.

The first step is to clean out your car.  The junk cluttering up the back seat becomes a flying mass of projectiles during a race.  The first time I autocrossed my Focus, I was oblivious to the fact that  CDs become flying saucers of doom when g-forces are in play.  I had a set of ten CDs in a visor mounted case.  By turn three, they became a driving hazard by flying right onto my dash, passenger seat, and floor. continue reading »

When Will (“Fox”) asked me to start writing a monthly column on racing, I was really not sure what to write about and how to make it worth reading.  Lets face it, I don’t have any serious experience – I’m an amateur autocrosser and run time trials when I can.
